We provide media services for clients like UEFA, Discovery Networks and Viasat to transform the way video is created, managed and distributed - worldwide. Our core development teams are based in Hilversum and Oslo and they are a tight knitted group of passionate colleagues. We are looking for talented back-end software engineers for web development to join the teams and contribute to the growth of Mediabank, innovate with us, and be part of a revolutionary global broadcasting/media technology powerhouse.

About the position

We are looking for a strong contributor that will thrive for providing the best experience to our users. The position is a full-time position at our Hilversum office to work within our development teams.

The tasks range from hands-on programming, design sessions with stakeholders to maintenance of the platform. We aim at having a continuous deployment development model and containerized architecture, two concepts we are pioneering in our industry.

In addition to skilled front-end and other back-end developers you will be collaborating with internal UX/UI design and frontend experts that are focusing on the user experience and ergonomics of the platform.


Main responsibilities

  • Develop and document event based micro-services to fulfil domain specific needs in collaboration with Architects, Product owners and domain experts;

  • Implement robust, scalable and secure APIs to serve internal systems, Mediabank frontend and customer systems;

  • Be part of building a back-end platform that scales both in speed and global reach;

  • Perform code reviews;

  • Be part of team efforts to continually increase security, automation and quality of the software we build;

  • Collaborate with our Delivery, Operations and Engineering departments to ensure our solutions are easy to administrate, operate and monitor.

Key qualifications

  • Solid experience as a back-end software engineer;

  • Documented experience with development in PHP, Java or similar paradigms with frameworks like Symphony or Spring;

  • Deep and thorough understanding of back-end architecture, including APIs and event driven micro-services;

  • A strong eye for system architecture and patterns;

  • Rest-API development;

  • Proven track record of contribution in large projects/products;

Optional qualifications

  • Familiar and supporter of Agile development;

  • Experience with Java development or Python;

  • Familiar with tools like Git, Spinnaker, Docker;

  • Experience with unit and integration testing;

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized architecture.

Practical info

  • Location: Hilversum, Netherlands. We are open for partial remote, so long as you are able to come to office on demand (expect minimum average of once weekly).

  • Languages required: English (Full professional proficiency) & Dutch (willing to learn).
